5 Easy Steps to a Better You (Emmett)

Here at #MillenialFriday we are all about self betterment and treating yourself well. You work far too hard to not enjoy yourself. Take a day each week and take stock of how far you’ve come. This week I’ve listed some things that I, personally, can do to improve my being. If they apply to you, great! If they don’t, well please just be with me on this one. It’s essentially an itemized pep talk for myself. Enjoy.

  1. Don’t Sleep With Your Phone in Your Bed

That is so bad for you! I don’t care if the outlet is by your bed and you are charging your phone. Get your phone out of your bed! Your screen shouldn’t be the last thing you see when you go to sleep. Put it across the room. Put it in another room if you can! You’ll improve upon your sleep. Not to mention, do you have any idea how many alarms you snooze without even getting up? Move the phone.

  2. Exfoliate

Wash your face with cold water. When you do, make sure you use your exfoliating face scrub. Every day. That’s what Pharrell says he does to look so young. Can you believe that? Cold water. So hop to it, every day. Ya know, or don’t. But pick one way or their other. Either have a clean face with smooth skin or don’t bother, but this whole doing it every few days isn’t cutting it. Figure it out and either get on board or hit the bricks.

  3. Maybe Try, I Don’t Know, Running

You’re going to the gym lately and you’re doing so well! Those weights are being lifted and you are feeling better. But maybe, I don’t know, give running a shot. Maybe take a day you would typically walk 20 minutes to the gym, lift for an hour, and walk home 20 minutes and just jog for 30 minutes. We are looking to achieve overall health that running is paramount in that equation. So get in some road work, Rocky, you’ll survive. In fact, you’ll be better for it.

  4. Read a Book

This is very similar to the item above. You are reading a bunch, and that is good. Reading is good. That said, you’re reading a lot of articles on your phone, and while you read them you are responding to every text that pops up. I’m glad you are staying in formed, but leave the phone on your desk, take a FICTION book, and go to the park. Reading a novel is as important as reading the paper. It’s summer time and you don’t have a job, I can’t think of a better time to get lost in a book.

  5. Drink More Water

I don’t care how much water you are drinking it is not enough. Hydrate.
